Handball was in the spotlight all weekend at the Plaine des sports in Châteauroux. In addition to international beach handball matches and intercommittee finals in the same discipline, the Centre-Val de Loire League met on the premises for its General Assembly.
Beach handball was also one of the subjects discussed, a project to standardize three dates during the year in order to develop the different practices of handball, the latter of which was mentioned. The opportunity also to present the changes to the elections of the Board of Directors of the French Federation, since the clubs will now have a say, up to 50%. Elections which will take place from November 21 to 25.
Daniel Villain re-elected as president
But the big subject of this day was the election of the presidency of the league, with the 2024/2028 project. This is the list carried by Daniel Villain, the only candidate in this election who won with 354 votes, for 5 blank votes. A list which will be completed by the representatives of each committee of the Centre-Val de Loire League. In presenting his project for the next cycle, the latter specified that it would follow two main axes.
The first is the fight against incivility and violence of all kinds. The second is to continue to promote access for women, whether to the different practices of handball, but also to positions of responsibility. Moreover, his list presents perfect male/female equity. Although this will only be mandatory by 2028, Daniel Villain insisted that this come into force this year, in accordance with the second axis of his program.
Five targeted areas of development
Another important point for him, the creation of territorial councils. The latter will make it possible to support more locally and therefore precisely the implementation of the project which he detailed more precisely around five axes. For the moment, there are no specific actions regarding these, but Daniel Villain specified that these would be detailed in the coming weeks.
Formation. Train sports facilitators of all handballs/Train sports coaches/Improve the skills of managers,
Excellence sportive. Detect and support potential towards the clubs/Select and support regional potential towards the poles/Support performance,
Arbitrage. Train referees/Appoint referees trained at the corresponding level for each match/Train refereeing supervision,
Development. Increase the number of structures to counter the loss of clubs/Improve the structuring of clubs/Be in contact with the school environment,
Events and communication. Organize and participate in large-scale sporting events/Organize and participate in institutional events/Communicate and promote club actions.
