“We always believed in it! The proof is that we have already purchased our tickets! » The parents of Yann Le Goff had flair and will attend their son’s race at the Paris Olympic Games on July 30, 2024. Yann Le Goff, 21, will the 4 x 200m freestyle relay.
Atypical journey
He obtained his qualification at Chartres (Eure-et-Loir), Monday June 17, by becoming French vice-champion in the 200m freestyle in 1’47″05. “I was happy, but my participation in the Olympics was confirmed four days later, on Friday. »
Yann Le Goff makes one of his dreams come true. His journey remains no less atypical. Originally from Fouesnant (Finistère) south of Quimper, the young man from a family of swimmers first joined the Quimper Swimming Union (UQN). The club praised his performance on Facebook:
Yann must have reached his baccalaureate at the age of 8 or 9. He was talented. For the anecdote, during the French championships, he won without a wetsuit while his opponents all wore them!
Pleasure and balance
The latter’s method is based on the balance between family, schooling and sport. Clearly, until the baccalaureate, training is limited to a daily session. “Yann thus had time to progress and implement his plan to evolve at the highest level when he had the opportunity,” explains Thierry Audourenq.
This rhythm allowed me to maintain the pleasure of swimming.
From Quimper to Rennes via Brest
In 2021, Yann Le Goff left Quimper for Brest. He began training in mechanical and production engineering at the IUT.
The following year, he headed to Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) where he was licensed to Paul Bert Circle. “This season, I decided to take a gap year to focus on my goal of going to the Games. »
A medal at the Paris Olympics…
And now ? “This week, with my club, we are going on training to Font-Romeu. Then, I will continue with another internship with the French team in Vichy. »The Games will arrive very quickly afterwards. For Yann Le Goff, the objective is clear: “Our relay is well placed on a global scale. We will want to go to the final and then win a medal. » All his loved ones will be there to encourage him.
