Torrential rains in Chertsey, in Lanaudière, caused flooding and the rupture of a small dam on Sunday.
The dam located on Chemin de l’Église gave way in the evening.
Since yesterday, 105 millimeters of rain have fallen in the region.
At the time these lines were written, the City had not ordered an evacuation and there was no danger for citizens, but the situation is under close surveillance, the mayor of Chertsey told Radio-Canada , Michelle Joly.
However, the town hall asks its citizens to limit their travel as much as possible while waiting for the situation to improve.
All teams are on the ground, both public works and firefighters
assures Ms. Joly.
It is certain that there are many problematic situations, but we have [la situation] under control currently.
