Zatanna : Bring Down the House #1 (DC Black Label) se dévoile en preview

Many times, DC Comics surprised by announcing in his DC Black Label projects centered on fairly unique characters – very popular with a niche of fans, perhaps less so with more “generalist” DC readers. This is particularly the case with titles Jenny Sparks or Plastic Man No More! recently announced, or in this month of June with the launch of Zatanna : Bring Down the Housea five-issue maxi-series dedicated to the most gifted magician in the universe DC Comics.

Zatanna : Bring Down the House is a proposal from two already successful personalities at DC or elsewhere, with on the one hand Virtual Tokyo (which we could read on Detective Comicsbut who especially stood out with his Supergirl : Being Super) to the scenario, and on the other with Javier Rodriguez (son Daredevil with Mark Waid!) on the drawings. The title must partly refer to the magician’s youth, and this is particularly what is literally illustrated in the first pages of preview posted online by DC Comicsthe young Zatanna losing patience with the mockery of certain kids while she tries to perform a (real) magic trick.

From what we understand from the summary of Zatanna : Bring Down the House and from the pages below, something serious enough happened in the sorceress’s youth following her mockery for her to cease all activity in the present (at least, the present of this story, the Black Label generally being out of continuity). But the heroine’s gloomy daily life will be changed when a demon attacks her, and she will therefore have to use magic again. All on a still appreciable drawing of Rodriguez, who puts himself in color on this occasion. The first issue will be available in full in the comicshops starting this Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
