Students from the watchmaking section of the Marcel Dassault high school, accompanied by their parents and teachers, were honored on Wednesday June 26. Vanessa Buisson and Franck Grosgojat, from the Jaeger-Lecoultre manufacture, were present at the high school to award prizes to three high school students.

“The partnership between the school and the famous Jaeger-Lecoultre manufacturer has existed since 2011,” recalled principal Franck Prudhomme. We will reward particularly deserving watchmaking students, judged on mastery of technique, but also on the excellence of their behavior throughout their schooling. » A video allowed those present to discover the world of the factory in the Vallée de Joux, in the Swiss Jura.

“There is a great need”

The story began in the historic farm of Antoine Le Coultre in 1833, which kept the name Grande maison. In 1903, the Swiss Jacques David Le Coultre met the Frenchman Edmond Jaeger and it was the beginning of the Jaeger-Le Coultre adventure. “The headmasters change from time to time in the high school, but there is one thing that does not change, it is the quality of the training, underlined Franck Grosgojat, director of fine watchmaking. Watchmaking always has needs, luxury watches exist all over the world. There is a great need for qualified watchmakers in many countries.”

The high school students prepared a file before creating their piece, and all worked hard to complete their work. “I congratulate all the students in the watchmaking section for their work, the level rises every year,” confided the principal. Jean-Yves Azzopardi, president of MOF (best worker in France) in watchmaking, also congratulated the high school students for their superb work. Price: 1is, Melvyn Rougier; 2, Tom Girard; 3, Raphaël Graval. The young people said they worked more than 800 hours in the workshop to make their clock: a retro style, family inspiration, for Tom Girard, and French elegance for Melvyn Rougier, passionate about old films.
