At US Saint-Maur, football is not reserved only for able-bodied players. Since this season, Élie Villemont has been the referent for adapted sports football. The sports association has the only team in the department involved in the regional adapted sports championship. “We have fifteen licensees, including two under the age of 18 who are disabled, adults who come from the Puy-d’Auzon home, the Châteauroux accommodation home, the IME des Martinets de Saint- Maur and independents. It’s Axel Lalande, PE teacher at Erea (regional adapted education establishment), who leads the training sessions every Tuesday, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. In adapted sport, I find the values that were instilled in me when I was young. We are doing the regional championship over four days”, he says. During his specific sessions for goalkeepers at US Saint-Maur, Élie Villemont included Maxime, the goalkeeper of the adapted sports team.

Days of inclusion

Outside of the championship, members of the adapted sports football team participate fully in club life. Inclusion days are organized, such as the trip for a Ligue 1 match between Clermont and Reims, the tournament proposed on Saturday June 15, 2024 or the blue day against autism.

“The objective is to integrate three players into the club’s senior teams next season, including Romain Plancheneault, who was selected for the Adapted Sports Center team. We also want to continue to structure the administrative and sporting part, as well as the inclusion of young people from the IME des Martinets, with initiation days”declares the former Déolois and Saint-Maurois goalkeeper.
