Destination Beauce, along with many municipal representatives, gathered on June 20 at Viva Cellules d’affaires vertes, in Sainte-Marie, to launch the Anekdote application in the region.
Anekdote is a free mobile platform which, through geolocation, tells stories to citizens and tourists based on where they are. Since its launch in September 2022, 250 cities in Quebec and New Brunswick have embarked on the project.
“It’s like having a tour guide with you. It allows you to plan your vacation and your trips. It’s the flea in your ear that gives you a taste of the experience you’re about to have.” […] It is a product with strong tourist appeal, which allows you to travel in a different way,” declared Fabienne Perreault, tourism development agent at Destination Beauce.
Currently, the Beauceron municipalities concerned are Saint-Lambert-de-Lauzon, Saint-Isidore, Scott, Saint-Bernard, Sainte-Marie, Saint-Elzéar, Vallée-Jonction, Saints-Anges, Frampton, Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Saint-Victor, Saint-Évariste-de-Forsyth and La Guadeloupe. Across the region, there are 675 anecdotes available to fans, including 14 along the Route de la Beauce and the Miracles beaucerons of Destination Beauce.
“Our greatest pride is our content. Everything is validated. We keep it short and captivating. It’s a digital companion,” said Yves Trépanier, head of operations for the application, emphasizing the magical nature of the stories of Beauce.
