SPI alert handover ceremony from 35F to 32F at the Hyères naval aeronautics base.

Thursday June 27, 2024, Vice-Admiral Serge Bordarier, Commander of the Naval Aeronautics Force, will chair the ceremony to hand over the SPI alert from the 35F flotilla to the 32F flotilla.

The rescue, protection and intervention alert (SPI) is a French Navy system that ensures maritime security in the area via naval aviation assets maintained on alert 24 hours a day. Also called SAR alert (search and rescue), this mission was that of the 35F flotilla on the Mediterranean coast for 26 years.
Configured for sea rescue, the H160 helicopters are equipped with a winch, an optronic system and a modular cabin allowing a suitable layout for each mission. They are also certified for flight with night vision binoculars. The H160 Marine are intended to operate from land and in mainland France.
The Hyères detachment has the same capabilities as the other detachments previously installed in Cherbourg and Lanvéoc in 2023. The H160 now takes on the function of guardian angel for sea users on the three maritime facades of the metropolis.
