NBorn in 2014 from the merger of the companies Sopra and Steria, both pioneers in the IT services sector in the 1960s, Sopra Steria is now one of the European leaders in digital transformation.

A “champion” present in 30 countries, where it has a total of 50,000 employees, but for which France remains a major territory of conquest. “We employ 15,000 people in France, where we have 40 sites in the regions, excluding Paris. France in general and the Bordeaux region in particular represent strategic basins for our activities,” assures the man who has held the position of President and Managing Director of the group for France for three years, Grégory Wintrebert.

850 employees in New Aquitaine

Passing through Gironde at the Mérignac regional headquarters of Sopra Steria, the CEO, of Lille origin, is a “pure in-house product” – he joined Sopra Steria eighteen years ago – and carries, in France, the policy growth of the group which, worldwide, achieves 2.5 billion euros in annual turnover.

“In our major businesses, IT development, support for change, digital transformation or even services around the cloud and cybersecurity, we are increasingly organizing our service offering according to economic specificities. and technology of companies present in major French geographic areas. »

In New Aquitaine, where Sopra Steria has 850 employees (650 in Bordeaux, 100 in Niort, as many in Pau), defense, security, aeronautics – particularly maintenance – are among the major sectors covered by these experts. . “We are also engaged in a reorganization of our offer which involves, in particular, a recruitment policy [environ 100 par an, NDLR] which aims to enable us to remain at the forefront in the fields of artificial intelligence, data analysis and processing, the cloud, etc. We are massively strengthening our skills in so-called ‘next generation’ technologies.” , explains the CEO.

A unique campus in Mérignac from 2026

A reorganization of the offer which involves, in Gironde, as was the case in Rennes, Lille or Paris, through a reorganization… of real estate. Sopra Steria brings together all the teams and skills from the same territory on a single campus in order to facilitate exchanges, internal collaborations and respond, more quickly and with more expertise, to current and future market demands.

In Mérignac, work on the campus is underway. A few hundred meters from the current regional headquarters, Sopra Steria France will invest 3 million euros there to bring together its teams spread across several sites a few kilometers apart. Sopra Steria will be tenant from 2026.
