a graduate attacked during a graduation party

A Bathurst High School student’s graduation party ended badly when he was the victim of a severe attack allegedly perpetrated by two other participants.

According to what Acadie Nouvelle has learned, young Loïc Thériault-Haché was seriously injured during the celebration held last Wednesday evening in an outdoor field in the former DSL sector of Tremblay, in Belle-Baie.

The attack allegedly occurred around 1 a.m. The young man was allegedly attacked while he was a little away from the crowd present.

The boy was transported to the Chaleur Regional Hospital by ambulance before being put in a semi-coma once he arrived at the hospital, according to his mother.

“I was coming back from Caraquet and I had to go pick him up, around 2-2:30 a.m., after the party. Gaël, my youngest, called me shouting Mom, come get us, Loïc got beaten, hurry up, quickly,” said Sophie Thériault, adding that she heard people shouting behind during the brief telephone conversation with her other boy who was also present at the party.

According to her, it was her boy who discovered his own brother who was lying face down. He wouldn’t have even been able to identify his brother at first because his face was so swollen.

Even though no one directly witnessed the attack, two young men were quickly identified as Loïc Thériault-Haché’s attackers.

The latter would also be students from Bathurst High School.

Still according to the victim’s mother, a quarrel which dates back more than a year and which involves the girlfriends of her boy and one of the attackers could explain this attack.

“He was conscious until he arrived at the hospital where he was put in a coma because his tongue was cut in two. I cried, I screamed, I was furious, Loïc tried to speak, but his tongue was really cut in two like a snake.”

The young man managed to be released from the hospital mid-weekend and returned home.

The RCMP told Acadie Nouvelle that an investigation has been launched. The victim must be met by investigators at the beginning of the week.

The police indicated that this investigation promises to be complicated due to the lack of witnesses.

The victim’s family indicated they wanted to take legal action against the two alleged attackers.
