Snow all the way to the plains, temperatures worthy of a month of January: with the arrival of storm Caetano, winter arrives on Thursday November 21, 2024 in France, where 54 departments are placed on orange alert snow, ice and wind. Including the Normandy departments of Eure, Orne, Calvados and Manche. Seine-Maritime was added to the list on Thursday, as announced by the prefecture on the X network.
“Difficult traffic in the regions”
This storm “will cross France from west to east and cause an early and sufficiently notable winter episode to make traffic conditions difficult in the regions concerned”indicates Météo-France on its website.
In Normandy, between 2 to 5 centimeters of snow are expected. And the first flakes should appear in the morning.
As a reminder, school and commercial transport lines are suspended in Eure, Orne, Manche and Calvados on Thursday. And the movement of trucks over 7.5 tonnes will be restricted, with a speed reduced by 20 km/h and will not be able to exceed. This will apply from 6 a.m. in Calvados and Orne, and from 11 a.m. in Eure.
Heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes will also be prohibited on certain sections of national roads and on the A84 between Fougères and Caen.
The prefectures invite motorists to limit travel and to respect the traffic restrictions and detours put in place.
