Sarthe: what are the 10 most sporty towns in the department?

Before the launch of the Olympic Games of Paris 2024a ranking of the “most sporty” cities has just been published by the site Dream city.

The podium at national level is made up of: Aix-en-Provence, Gap et Font-Romeu

10 criteria taken into account

To establish this list, Dream Towns based itself on 10 criteria : number of licensees, equipment, sports associations, diversity of disciplines, etc.

In Sarthe, nearly 300 municipalities have been classified and divided into the categories of villages (less than 8,000 inhabitants), small towns and large cities.

221st in the national rankings, Mulsanne is first in the department with a score of 76 out of 100 (see chart below).

“67% of sports facilities are present in the municipality, 19 sports facilities are built in the city and 36% of sports association categories are present in the city,” explains the site.

What is the score of Le Mans?

Le Mans comes just behind, with a score of 75 out of 100 (272nd nationally).
The Sarthe prefecture already appeared in a previous ranking among the “dream cities” as well as in the top 50 established by the Smappen application.

Also in the metropolis, Allonnes ranks 3rd with a score of 73 out of 100 (367th nationally).

The City of Dreams site allows Internet users to help settle in a place that corresponds to their wishes based on 725 indicators.

Other rankings et labels highlight the sports cities, including that of the regional Olympic committee. Sablé-sur-Sarthe had received three flames, and Sillé-le-Guillaume, four flames, in 2023.
