Charlene and Albert of Monaco in love matching the colors of the Rock, the couple gives everything for a very special presentation!

On June 19, Charlene and Albert of Monaco made a remarkable appearance in Monaco carrying the Olympic flame that passed through Antibes and Nice before arriving on the Rock. The couple caused a sensation, dressed in the official outfit of the Olympic and Paralympic flame bearers. Arriving in front of the gates of the princely palace, the parents of twins Gabriella and Jacques posed before being joined by their children dressed in black. To our colleagues at Monaco Info, Prince Albert II confided: “I was very happy to be able to share this with Princess Charlene, with our children and with our wonderful athletes who accompanied us.”

After appearing alone in mid-June in Léon, in the Landes, for the first edition of the Water Safety Days, Charlene Wittstock joined her husband yesterday, Thursday June 27, for an event that she would not have missed for anything in the world. Indeed, yesterday, swimmer Lisa Pou, Princess Charlene of Monaco, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and table tennis player Xiaoxin Yang met up for the official presentation, at the Yacht Club de Monaco, of the Monegasque athletes who will participate in the next Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. For these games, Monaco will be represented by five athletes (three women and two men), the flag bearers of the Principality are the swimmers Lisa Pou and Théo Druenne.

A couple committed to sport

Before becoming a princess, Charlene of Monaco was an Olympic swimmer. She represented South Africa at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and competed in the women’s 4×100 meter medley relay and other swimming events during those games. His sporting career and his Olympic participation have contributed to his public image and his role as a patron of sport in Monaco. Her husband is not left out! Prince Albert II of Monaco, for his part, participated in five editions of the Winter Olympic Games as a member of the Monaco bobsleigh team. He participated in the 1988 editions in Calgary, 1992 in Albertville, 1994 in Lillehammer, 1998 in Nagano and in 2002 in Salt Lake City. He certainly did not win a medal, but his regular participation in the Olympic Games clearly demonstrates his personal commitment to sport and his support for the Olympic movement.

As a reminder, the princely couple made their first public appearance at the Turin Olympic Games in 2006. Yesterday, Thursday June 27, the lovers once again showed their great attraction to sport and caused a sensation in their matching outfits. Charlene had opted for a white suit, while her husband wore red pants and a jacket as well as a two-tone tie to represent the Monegasque colors. There is no doubt, Charlene and Albert are proud of their Rock!
