In 2016, Caroline Blowers left her job as a salesperson in the industry to create Les Sens de l’Escalette, cabin accommodation in the upper Lergue valley, surrounded by nature. “The desire to welcome people has been on my mind for a long time, especially since I am bilingual in English and German” explains Caroline, a native of Duisburg, Germany, of an… English father.

Eco-sensitive approach

The cabin, made comfortable with the help of Pierre, her husband, was an immediate success from the first summer, which continued after the Covid epidemic. However, since 2019, the business leader has continued to offer more intimacy and relaxation to a clientele eager to return to nature. To do this, she acquired the house opposite her home which she transformed into a gîte, which increases her accommodation capacity, around a shared swimming pool nestled in lush greenery. And this year, in its eco-sensitive approach, the one which is a partner of the tourist office with the network of ambassadors of Lodévois and Larzac, has equipped its exterior solar lighting with motion detectors, thanks to a subsidy from Ademe . “In winter, the cabin is occupied on weekends by Montpellier residents, Parisians and locals looking for a change of scenery, authenticity around the stove”. In the summer, Caroline welcomes more foreigners like Maike, a German who lives in Los Angeles (USA), who has reserved the entire month of May for… the 3rd year in a row! On the activity side, if the first half started strongly, the trend for this summer, quite unprecedented, like its colleagues, is moving towards shorter stays and later reservations.
