Morocco recently received the guest of honor award at CineEurope 2024, which was held from June 17 to 20 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB). Awarded to a Moroccan delegation representing the Minister of Youth, culture and communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, this distinction crowns the efforts made by Morocco to promote culture and the arts in general, and cinema in particular, indicates a press release from the ministry.
“This distinction, the first of its kind, testifies to the vitality of cinema culture in Morocco and its innovative strength, which has inspired audiences around the world,” explains the president of the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) convention, Phil Klaff, quoted in the press release.
“We look forward to continuing our collaboration to celebrate the richness of Moroccan cinema on the international stage,” he said during the awards ceremony.
According to the organizers, Moroccan cinema, guest of honor at CineEurope 2024, is currently experiencing a period of renewal and expansion, with numerous projects under development, including the opening of new cinemas.
