Jean-Luc Mélenchon “no longer admires” Serge Klarsfeld, after his call to vote for RN against LFI in the legislative elections

POLITICS – As the first round of the legislative elections draws closer, Jean-Luc Mélenchon was the guest on the show C the weekly on France this Saturday June 22.

L’Insoumis notably had the opportunity to respond to the recent release of Serge Klarsfeld, the lawyer and historian known for his tracking down of the Nazis and his defense of the memory of the Shoah. Last Saturday on LCI, he announced that he would vote for the National Rally, which “moults” and that “supports the Jews”adding that La France insoumise was a party “resolutely anti-Jewish”.

“When Mr. Klarsfeld, whom I admired as you have no idea about the Nazi hunt; why did I admire the Nazi hunters? Because (…) in a major daily newspaper, one day someone did a study that I kept: 96% of the people who worked in the deportation camps were never tried. And so I have forever hatred and disgust for each of these people. I have always advocated individual responsibility for immoral acts. I have always advocated for it, even in circumstances that have sometimes cost me dearly”explained Jean-Luc Mélenchon on the set of France 5 (see the video extract below).

“It’s a disaster on his part”

“So Mr. Klarsfeld, whom I admired, I no longer admire. I consider it a disaster on his part. He must not speak like that given the moral authority he has, he must not get involved in the election against the New Popular Front or against the Insoumis because he will do considerable damage”then affirmed the elected official, who could find himself in Matignon if the New Popular Front obtained an absolute majority in the legislative elections.

“If in the second round people start to do like him, that is to say every time I see the Popular Front (…) I vote for the National Rally, you will have a National Rally government »he concluded.

According to Serge Klarsfeld, the National Rally “moved”. “It’s a party that supports Jews, that supports the State of Israel. » At the end of May, he told AFP that the RN was “gradually entered the circle of republican parties”even if he assured that he would not vote for this party in the European elections.
