The copper network will no longer exist in by 2030. Little by little, all ADSL networks will close and installing a fiber connection will no longer be an option for the most reluctant French people. As reported West Francewhile several departments have already said goodbye to this technology, in January 2025, seven other municipalities in Maine-et- will be affected.

Franck Coudrieau, Altice-SFR west regional delegate, explained to our colleagues that it was necessary for these residents to connect to fiber as quickly as possible, even if its installation was relatively quick.

Which municipalities are affected?

The regional delegate also specified that this technology, patented in 1998, was no longer sufficient for the needs of the French today: “With the arrival of streaming and teleworking, a stronger signal is needed, hence the importance of connect to the fiber. »

Far too expensive to maintain, these networks will soon be a thing of the past for the municipalities of Vezins, Toutlemonde, Chanteloup-les- or even Les Cerqueux, Nuaillé and Somloire. To still be able to benefit from landline telephone and Internet, residents will have to switch to fiber before January 27.
