As winter approaches, there are more and more beneficiaries of Restos du Cœur. To meet the needs of people in precarious situations, the association is organizing its annual collection campaign in supermarkets this Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November. In Ariège, the Restos du Cœur branch is looking for volunteers for a day to carry out this operation, particularly in Foix.
3,260 people in difficulty are helped all year round by the 300 volunteers of the Restos du Cœur Ariège. But as winter approaches, more and more beneficiaries are coming to the association and the need for food and hygiene products is ever greater. To replenish its stock, the organization is organizing its annual winter collection campaign this Friday November 15 and Saturday November 16, in partner stores. In Foix, six supermarkets are participating in the operation. Last year, this same campaign made it possible to harvest nearly 3 tonnes of various products. But the donations flow quickly since 1.5 tonnes per week are distributed.
Need around twenty volunteers
Increasingly numerous beneficiaries and distribution and collection campaigns which require the mobilization of numerous volunteers. In Foix, Les Restos du Cœur Ariège is looking for around twenty small hands to be present in the stores participating in the operation, but also to then sort the products. Because after the harvest, comes the delivery of donations to people in precarious situations. This winter, the distribution campaign will begin on Monday, November 18. Every week, the association's local center will then welcome the beneficiaries to the department's 12 activity centers.
