The low pressure system has strengthened over the last 24 hours. Becoming a strong tropical storm, it was named Bheki. It was located at 4:23 a.m. on November 15, 2024, 2,400 km in the East-North-East, at points 11.2° South and 75.9° East. It is moving at 11 km/h towards the South-South-West and does not present any danger to inhabited lands, at least until Sunday.

Strong tropical storm Bheki (No. 3) was located at 4:23 a.m. this Friday morning, at points 11.2° South and 75.9° East, or 2,400 km in the East-North-East of Reunion. It moves at 11 km/h in the South-South-West direction (550 km from Diego-Garcia).
“It should temporarily accelerate towards the southwest today and Saturday before slowing down on Sunday”writes Météo-France La Réunion.
Bheki is expected to intensify to reach tropical cyclone stage this Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Forecasters stress that it is still too early to determine whether Bheki will impact inhabited land: “At the beginning of next week, Rodrigues could enter the zone of influence of the system. The inhabitants of Rodrigues are therefore invited to follow the evolution of the system”.
