Solesmes, temple of electro with the Owl Festival
If we check Google Maps, around thirty kilometers as the crow flies separate Bourlon and Solesmes. And it won’t be too much this weekend, as the decibels are likely to rise in the two towns. Having become an unmissable event, Rock in Bourlon should attract several thousand spectators. But fans of electro music can now count on the Hibou Festival, which is back for a second edition, in the middle of the Fête de la Musique.
The festival will take place over two days with a program featuring DJs on June 21. We will thus find Frank Jones, VINCE, DJ George’s, Marko De La Rocca, Frank Biazzi, Laurent Top, Fred Axiome, CP, Dave and Jerom B. All in an atypical setting, since the festival invites the public to bring back made owls by hand for decoration.
Queen and Johnny Hallyday at the heart of tribute mania
Do you know about “tributes”? These are artists or groups specializing in covers to pay homage to a musical figure. It is therefore an opportunity, for the most nostalgic, to re-listen to essential hits in concert conditions. And our region is full of gems in this area.
If you have Something from Tennessee or you want Live for the bestthe Tandem group will cover the classics of Johnny Hallyday from 7 p.m. this Friday, at Fontaine-Notre-Damefrom 1963 to his last album.
Also highly anticipated, the tribute Break Free – Queen Tribute Show during the day of Saturday, at the Owl Festival of Solesmes. The group, considered by a majority of fans as the best Queen tribute, fills venues across Europe.
To complete this list, the ScarSystem group should return rue Sadi-Carnot to Cambrai with a cover of System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., just as Quentin plays AC/DC at Épinoyat the municipal stadium, during an evening which starts at 6:30 p.m.
Foam party, duck race: music, but not only that
Among the array of artists present this weekend in Cambrésis, some may not find what they are looking for. No matter, it won’t just be music! Fireworks are planned in places, such as at Escaudoeuvres on Saturday June 22. It will be lit by the concert of Vincent Colonna, better known under the nickname La petite culotte, with his essential hit “La Goffa lolita”. Also this Saturday, a foam party is planned at the sports complex in Masnièresfrom 6 p.m., with DJ on the decks and fireworks in the evening.
Finally, at Cateau-Cambrésis, you can get wet before the concerts at the Fourneau Bridge, by predicting the winner of the Ch’tis Canards en saddle race, which will start at 6 p.m. Many valuable prizes will be won on site for participants, and the profits will be donated to improve living conditions for people with cancer. Like many events, the continuation of these three events is however conditioned by Lady Weather, capricious in recent weeks. The Neighbors and Music Festival in Villers-Outréaux was, for example, canceled.
To the tune of Star Academy in Proville
The Music Festival is also an opportunity to discover budding talents thanks to open stages. HAS Proville, we decided to go even further to ride on the success of musical talent shows. This Sunday, from 8 p.m., six amateur singers of all ages will take the stage, accompanied by a group of professional musicians, to perform during an original concert-show. And they are all from Provillois! To prepare for this deadline, they went through real training worthy of the Star Academy. They were able to work on their voice, coached for several weeks by a professional in the music world, but also on their stage performance, their repertoire and their interpretation. If you want to see the result, it will be Place de la République. The atmosphere will be provided from 5 p.m. by the La Clef des chants choir, the local association Monte le son and the municipal harmony.
