A scam that has been raging for several months in and is the subject of a call for vigilance from the gendarmes.

A scam is on the rise on the national territory and Occitanie is not spared: the gendarmes of the Pyrénées-Orientales have notably launched an appeal for cautionNovember 13th.

Fake courier scam

As it indicates on its networks, the gendarmerie indicates that for several months, “a fake courier scam banks are rife on the national territory, and more precisely in the Pyrénées-Orientales”. The gendarmes explain than an SMS is sent to people, asking them to contact their bank's fraud department via a number provided in this message. A request made following operations so-called fraudulent on their account.

Home visit

It doesn't end there: in most cases, a fake courier is sent to the victim. She is asked to provide her bank card. The gendarmes explain that these acts can also occur within the framework of a renewal of your vital card.
