Five days after a demonstration against the far right which brought together some 200 people, on the main square, around thirty people were mobilized again to make their voices heard against the National Rally and for the defense of the public service – then that World Civil Service Day is held on June 23.

« We are here to defend the rights and status of civil servants, explained Jean Philibert, maintenance agent at Cambrai town hall. The bill against the civil service aims to call into question the principle of independence of civil servants vis-à-vis political power (…) And we do not want the RN to pass; for us it would be the end of civil servant status and a return to a civil servant who must obey orders. »

In the ranks of the demonstrators were the legislative candidate representing the New Popular Front Benoît Maréchal as well as the Lutte Ouvrière candidate Nadine Reynaert who had come in support.
