The Eco-CJF athlete, originally from Orléans but who trains in the United States, will be on the track on Friday June 28, in the triple jump. The double 2021 French junior champion has chances of a podium while three other Loirétains will be present in Maine-et-Loire.

She has been living her American dream for three years now. Orleanian Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi, 21, studies modern languages ​​at the University of Louisiana Monroe, and participates in the very competitive university championship under the colors of the Warhawks, in the long jump and the triple jump. With remarkable performances to boot.

“I won the indoor competitions in both disciplines in my conference, which I had never done since I arrived. In the triple jump, I jumped over 13 m indoors for the first time in my career. I also beat my long jump record (6.25 m) outdoors in May. I went to the NCAA national finals, where I finished in the top 8 (7th). It was a very good year for me. I reached new levels, I am now regular at over 13 m”, assures the ECO-CJF athlete, who returned to France last weekend.

Three girls in front

The jetlag almost digested, she will line up, Friday evening (7:30 p.m.) in Angers, for the triple jump competition of the French Elite championships. Three girls on the field display entry performances superior to hers, but their margin is tiny (around thirty centimeters) and the race for the podium is undecided. “I feel in good shape, I will give the best of myself,” says the double French junior champion (2021), never a medalist yet in Elite.

Four committed Loiretains
In addition to triple jumper Eunice Ilunga Mbuyi, Loiret will be represented in these French Elite Championships by pole vaulter Bérénice Petit (Eco-CJF) and walkers Quentin Chenuet (Saran lac) and Aymeric Hue (Eco-CJF). ​​This trio will be in action on Saturday evening. Natives of the department, but no longer licensed here, throwers Lolassonn Djouhan (discus, Martigues) and Frédéric Dagée (shot put, Nice) will also perform on Saturday.
