Director Olivier Wright is coming to present his film “Camping Sauvage” on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Pornichet (-Atlantique), his city of origin.

This 22-minute short film was shot on the Côte d'amour, from Saint-Nazaire to Batz-sur-Mer.

“A thriller that flirts with the codes of horror”

Prohibited for children under 10, it is classified in the horror film category.

“It’s a thriller that flirts with the codes of horror,” explains the young director.

“With my cinematographer, Arthur Barrow, we knew that it was essential to do a lot with a little and to make the most of the main setting of the film: a utility truck with no windows, apart from a skylight in the wall separating the cockpit from the rear cabin. Both prisoners and protected by this large metal box, the characters do not see the threat that surrounds them. One of the challenges of the film was therefore to create tension through sounds, sound effects and silences. »

The choice of the filming site, notably on the Cavarro moor in Pornichet, was made naturally between the director and his producer Eve Pajot-Brémont who both grew up in the town.

Other scenes were filmed nearby, such as Saint-Nazaire, Batz-sur-Mer, La Baule or Saint-André-des-Eaux:

“This first film made in professional conditions is particularly representative of the strength of the universes and genres that Olivier wishes to explore in the long term,” explains Eve Pajot-Brémont.

Benefiting from funding from the CNC and the OCS channel, the project raised more than €11,000 thanks to crowdfunding.

The story: Sam and Alex, a couple in their thirties looking to rediscover the enthusiasm of their beginnings, go wild camping on the Breton coast near a popular surf spot. But two local surfers will take a dislike to them and make them endure a night in hell… a night which will put them to the test and reveal how far they are willing to go to save their relationship…

Useful: preview Sunday November 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the La Toile de mer cinema, in the presence of the director. Free session open to everyone aged 10 and over.
