The former director of the health agency of the territory of the islands of Wallis and Futuna was appointed, this morning in the Council of Ministers, Director General of the Regional Health Agency of Guyana.

This Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, Laurent Bien was appointed new director of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Guyana. He succeeds Dimitri Grygowski, appointed last October as sports, youth and community life advisor within the national education, higher education, research, youth and sports division in the office of the Prime Minister, Michel Barnier. Today, the interim is provided by Romain Brochard, deputy director of ARS Guyana.

Graduated from the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health (Ehesp) in 1996, from the Institute of Political Studies of Aix-en-Provence and from the Aix- University in public law, Laurent Bien started his career as deputy director at University Hospital. He then worked as deputy director of the Mayotte Hospital Center before joining Réunion in 2010. There, he will work in several establishments: he will be director of the Félix-Guyon Hospital Center in Saint-Denis, a hospital integrated into the CHU de la Réunion, then director of the public mental health establishment before joining the Ouest Réunion Hospital Center in Saint-Paul.

On his LinkedIn profile, Laurent Bien highlights his versatility in managing hospital establishments in general affairs as well as finance, management control, human resources and quality. He also indicates a “great interest in mental health (…) and health information systems”.

Laurent Bien left the management of the health agency of the territory of the islands of Wallis and Futuna last September. He had held this position for a year. In Guyana, among the files on which it is expected, is the creation of the University Hospital Center planned for the year 2025.
