At only 21 years old, Orphée Pauthier is running for the first constituency of Tarn, during the first round of the early legislative elections on Sunday June 30 and July 7, 2024. A look back at his program.

Without political label, Orphée Pauthier wishes to carry the voice of youth. At just 21 years old, this future engineer entered politics for the first time. And the young man does not do things by halves: he presents his candidacy for the legislative elections, in the first Tarn constituency.

Even if he knows that his chances are low against the party candidates, Orphée Pauthier hopes that this election will be an opportunity to raise themes that speak to young people in Tarn. Among its objectives: to focus the debate on climate change and to propose the intervention of young people in political decisions. “This express campaign puts us all on an equal footing,” he reports. “No one was prepared for this turnaround so it was now or never to come forward.”

“It’s not because we’re young that we can’t get involved in politics”

This running campaign is a bold bet for the student. The financial aspect is proving to be a problem that many small legislative candidates have to face. Between traveling, printing posters or newsletters, expenses can add up. “The campaign is at our expense, our families support us financially,” explains the student.

“Today, young people do not recognize themselves in the ideas proposed by the parties… We must get out of this left, right and center divide,” insists the young man. With the aim of providing an alternative to voters, Orphée Pauthier named his movement “Finally believe it”.
