International traffic grew by 19% to 11,135,210 passengers welcomed and domestic traffic increased by 18% to 1,218,286 passengers, ONDA specifies in a press release.

The evolution of international traffic has been favored by the creation of several new international airlines serving Morocco’s airports, reports the same source, citing the lines Marrakech: Leeds Bradford (United Kingdom), Tangier: Lisbon and Barcelona, ​​Rabat : Istanbul, Barcelona, ​​Paris CDG, Brussels and Basel Mulhouse (Switzerland), Tetouan: Amsterdam and Bilbao and Casablanca: Abidjan.

Concerning airport movements, they reached 90,738, an increase of around 14% compared to the end of May 2023.

Freight traffic, for its part, totaled 39,655 tonnes during the first five months of 2024, an increase of 27% compared to the same period a year earlier.

During the month of May 2024 alone, Moroccan Airports recorded a volume of commercial traffic of 2,827,570 passengers, a sharp increase of 20% compared to the same month of 2023.

Mohammed V airport, which represents 31% of overall traffic, welcomed 869,278 passengers, an improvement of 4% compared to May 2023. Likewise, the majority of other airports showed strong growth, notably the Rabat-Salé airports. (+48%), Agadir Al Massira (+40%), Marrakech-Menara (+34%), Tangier Ibn Batouta (+33%), Oujda Angads (+14%) and Fès Sais (+9%).

International traffic increased by 18% last May to 2,493,951 passengers welcomed.

This growth is explained by the performance achieved by the European market which accounts for 85% of total international traffic, recording double-digit growth (+21%), as well as the African markets. (13%) and North America (+9%).

With 333,619 passengers welcomed, domestic traffic increased by 37%, driven by the launch, in May, of new domestic airline routes from Ryanair (Tangier-Oujda, Tangier-Essaouira and Tangier-Ouarzazate). ).

Regarding airport movements last May, ONDA indicates that there were 20,351 flights departing and arriving at all airports in Morocco, which represents an increase of 17% compared to May 2023.

Mohammed V airport represented 33% of this traffic, followed by Marrakech Menara with 26% and Agadir Al Massira with 9%.

As for freight traffic, it recorded an increase of 33% to 8,935 tonnes in May 2024.
