Legislative elections 2024: which candidates face Gérald Darmanin in the 10th constituency in the North?

He is one of the ministers candidates for the early legislative elections: Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior, officially submitted his candidacy in the tenth constituency of the North, the stronghold of the man who was elected mayor of Tourcoing in 2014 and which includes part of the second largest city in the North, as well as Bousbecque, Linselles, Halluin, Roncq and Neuville-en-Ferrain.

If he had imposed in 2022 in the second round with 57% of the votes facing NUPES candidate Leslie Mortreux, Gérald Darmanin will be opposed in the first round to six candidates, and the European election results in this constituency let the outcome of these legislative elections completely open. In the European elections, Jordan Bardella’s RN received 35% of the votes in the constituency, Reconquest received 5%, the various left-wing candidates together gathered around 30% of the votes, while the presidential majority only received 15% of the votes.

And even if the European and legislative elections are different ballots, they suggest a high result for the RN candidate, Bastien Verbrugghe. The New Popular Front – LFI REV for its part invested the anti-speciesist candidate Leslie Mortreux, who qualified in 2022 for the second round against Gérald Darmanin.

Finally there will be an LR candidate facing Gérald Darmanin

There will ultimately be an LR candidate facing the Minister of the Interior in the person of Jérôme Garcia. Initially, LR had announced locally that he did not have the party’s nomination, until the national office of Les Républicains announced on Monday afternoon that he had finally benefited from LR’s nomination. He too was already a candidate in 2022.
