2024 legislative elections: a candidate withdraws in the first constituency in the North, in Lille

Rebound for the 2024 legislative elections in the first constituency of Northhas Lille. A candidate has in fact just announced that he is withdrawing.

This candidate is Adel Bousalham. He had launched into this election to “propose a different candidacy, supported by civil society and demanded by many of its inhabitants”, pushed by the “negotiations around the nominations until the last minute”.

Let us recall in particular that the outgoing deputy Adrien Quatennens was expected to run in the name of the New Popular Front before finally announcing that he would not run.

It is ultimately Aurélien Le Coq (LFI) who will represent the Popular Front. But another candidacy emerged on the left in this constituency, that of activist Amy Bah. The mayor of Lille Martine Aubry even gave him her support.

Adel Bousalham, for his part, decided not to run, “given the record number of candidates and the historic stakes surrounding this election. We will not maintain our candidacy and will not campaign,” he assures us.

Voters in the 1st constituency (Lille Centre, Lille Sud, Lille Sud-Est – less the municipalities of Lezennes and Ronchin -, Loos) will therefore have the choice between 13 candidates:
