Ambassador of Nièvre, she exhibits her photos in

Sylvie Augendre took up photography almost ten years ago. From Friday, she presents the exhibition “The treasures of Nièvre” at the ducal palace.

From Friday, an exhibition, installed at the ducal palace and entitled “The treasures of Nièvre”, will show the public fifty original photos. Photographs of monuments, landscapes and animals, all taken exclusively in Nièvre.

Sylvie Augendre took up photography almost ten years ago, as a self-taught photographer. A self-confessed perfectionist, the user manual for her camera is now her bedside book.

The Nièvre close to the body

One thing led to another since 2015 – from shares on social networks to the first exhibitions – and here it is in the spotlight at the ducal palace. But for her, what matters is the highlighting of this department that she loves so much and whose richness and beauty she constantly promotes. “I have a special history with Nièvre. I was born in Lormes then I went to . for studies, then Alsace. For thirty-five years, I was not here. But I always remained Nivernais,” explains Sylvie Augendre.

After returning to her land, following a dismissal, she wanted to defend, through images, this region that “people don't know. They sometimes don't even know where Nevers is. I define myself, moreover, more as an ambassador rather than as a photographer. I want to highlight Nièvre so that someone, who has a negative outlook, says “finally, it’s beautiful”. »

Nature, heritage, animals, from autumn fogs to the Northern Lights, from insects to deer, from the Saint-Étienne church to the ducal palace that she has known since her childhood, “there are beautiful things to see. And I’m far from having done the trick.”

Regarding the exhibition The treasures of Nièvre Sylvie Augendre had difficulty keeping only fifty photos. “It was extremely difficult to select them. I could have taken 200! It's almost a little frustrating. »

Among the photos chosen, “there are two large formats and certain photos which were winners of regional competitions”.

For new or long-time lovers of Nièvre, the photos on display will be offered for sale. Not “to enrich myself”, specifies Sylvie Augendre. “But exposure has a cost. Sales will allow me to remove other photos for new exhibitions. »

Practical. Exhibition “The treasures of Nièvre”, from Friday November 15 to Friday December 6, at the ducal palace, 1, place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville, in Nevers. Opening hours on the culture.nevers.fr website. Opening reception, Friday November 15, at 6 p.m.
