Christina* gave birth to two children, in 2020 and 2022. A happy outcome, at the end of a painful story. “I had always thought that the day I decided to get pregnant, it would be resolved in two months, but it lasted seven years,” says the Fribourgeoise, now 41 years old, who followed a long journey of medically assisted procreation (MAP) punctuated by inseminations, in vitro fertilizations and miscarriages. Of glimmers of hope and moments of despondency. “After the third miscarriage, I felt that emotionally I could no longer cope. Physically, we recover, but morally… I felt like an empty shell and I had the impression of being alone in the world, even if I was well surrounded.”

Christina begins follow-up with a psychologist, but she quickly “needs more.” A plus that she finds in alternative therapies – acupuncture, reflexology – and with a “child desire coach”, Jacqueline Comte, based in the canton of Vaud. The latter also used PMA and Christina recognizes herself in her story. “For me, it was an essential help. While my whole life revolved around the visceral need to have a child, the meetings were very focused on letting go and the idea that the priority was that I felt good in my body, that I did not have of influence on the birth or not of a baby.
