While road safety figures are not good in the department and a sixth fatal accident was reported on the roads of Cantal this weekend, the gendarmes punished several bad behaviors.

Friday June 14, around 8:55 a.m., on the RN 122 near La Chapelle-d’Alagnon, a 43-year-old Cantal resident was checked at 139 km/h (132, speed assumed) instead of 90.

Saturday June 15, around 3:25 a.m., a 24-year-old Corrézien was arrested in Vebret, on the RD 3, with 2.26 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. At 11:45 a.m., in Sansac-de-Marmiesse, on the RN 122, a 30-year-old Cantal resident was flashed at 130 (123, speed selected) instead of 80 km/h. He was also driving without insurance. Around 11:50 a.m., in Laroquebrou, on the RD 120, a 33-year-old Périgourdin, on a probationary license, was caught at 155 km/h (147, speed assumed) instead of 80 km/h. He was also alcoholic, with a level of 0.72 grams per liter of blood.

Around 3:30 p.m., a 74-year-old Cantal resident was checked at Rouget-Pers. The septuagenarian refused to stop at the gendarmerie checkpoint. Intercepted, he then refused to blow into the breathalyzer. At 5 p.m., a 41-year-old resident of Vienne was caught on the A75 in Coren, with 1.58 grams of alcohol per liter of blood.

Sunday June 16, at 5:15 a.m., rue Léopold-Chastang, in Saint-Flour, a 32-year-old Cantal resident was caught driving with 1.66 grams of alcohol per liter of blood. At 10:45 a.m., on the A75, near Val d’Arcomie, a 33-year-old man, living in Paris, was stopped for speeding, at 164 km/h (155, speed assumed) instead of 130 . He was also positive for cannabis. At 6:15 p.m., a 39-year-old Cantal woman was arrested on the RN 122, in Quézac, at 139 km/h (132, speed assumed) instead of 80 km/h. Same place, same time, a 40-year-old woman tested positive for cannabis and driving at 118 km/h (112, speed assumed) instead of 80.

All of these drivers were subject to an administrative suspension of their driving license.
