Elections 2024: an outgoing federal deputy denounces a counting error

Lhe outgoing federal deputy, Jean-Marc Delizée (PS), achieved a score of 6,349 votes during the federal elections of June 9 for the constituency of Namur, including 1,693 votes in the canton of Couvin, which includes the municipalities of Couvin and Viroinval. The man contests the distribution of these results, he tells us, confirming information from the Future.

According to The future, it appears from the SPF website that Jean-Marc Delizée collected 1,408 votes in the entity of Couvin, which means that he collected 285 for the entity of Viroinval, where he is currently a municipal councilor and where he was in the past alderman, but also mayor. “This is the first time I have found myself faced with such a situation. The processor was digitized. There is no longer a piece of paper and there is no PV available. 285 votes in Viroinval, it’s impossible,” regrets Jean-Marc Delizée.

The canton of Couvin was made up of eight counting offices. “The 7th and 8th were exclusively dedicated to the polling stations in the commune of Viroinval, both for the region and the federal government. I had a witness in office 7 who took a photo of the results of the parties for the Chamber and thanks to this we know that the PS had a score of 35.52% while this office was the least favorable to us of the two . I cast 434 votes in this office. For office 8, I was told by telephone that the PS had scored well and that I was more than 600 votes away,” continues Jean-Marc Delizée.

“I will go so far as to file a complaint if necessary”

The latter does not dispute its overall score but rather its distribution for the canton of Couvin. “Between 285 and more than 1,000 votes, we do not do the same analysis and this negatively influences citizens 4 months before the municipal elections for which I will be a candidate. Our competitors also develop fake news based on these false results and thus disrupt citizen perception. »

Jean-Marc Delizée has already taken various steps to try to obtain a rectification. “I will go so far as to file a complaint if necessary,” he finishes.
