Lon April 16, The evening devoted an investigation file to the legal troubles of Viagerim, leader in the life annuity sector in Brussels and Wallonia. Following an investigation opened on the basis of a complaint with the constitution of a civil party, the Walloon Brabant public prosecutor’s office requested, during a hearing held on May 13, the referral to criminal court of the company and its founder, Jean-François Jacobs, for abuse of weakness.
At issue: the sale of a farmhouse in Ohain (Lasne) belonging to an 80-year-old woman, for the benefit of four co-purchasers including the socialist Brussels MP Marc-Jean Ghyssels. Quickly, things get complicated. One month after signing the sales agreement, which occurred in March 2018 under the supervision of Viagerim, who then had a sales mandate, the seller died. Refusing to sign the authentic deed, the seller’s daughter (and heir) is then taken to court by the buyers, who intend to finalize the sale.
