This is half as many as two years ago when 142 candidates declared themselves. In 2017, there were 177. But the conditions are obviously not the same and it was complicated for many contenders to present themselves in less than a week. The parties have also regrouped. Exit, for example, the totally dispersed left of 2017.

Thus, certain constituencies such as the 10th (Libournais) or the 11th (Blayais) see only four candidates competing. It is in the third (Bordeaux Sud, Bègles, Talence, Villenave-d’Ornon) that they will be the most numerous: nine.

Few surprises among the applications. The 12 leavers are leaving: the six Renaissance deputies, the three deputies of the ex-Nupes who became the New Popular Front, the Modem deputy and the two deputies of the National Rally.

While there is a rush for proxies, we should see more triangulars (three candidates in the second round) on July 7. Quadrangulars cannot be excluded in the event of very massive participation in constituencies where there is little dispersion between candidates. As a reminder, to qualify for the second round, a candidate must obtain a number of votes at least equal to 12.5% of registered voters. To be elected in the first round, you must obtain 50% of the votes cast and a number of votes at least equal to 25% of the number of registered voters.
