As the Tabaski holiday approaches, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, granted a presidential pardon to 376 detainees. This decision, announced by decree, is part of a tradition of clemency and compassion, allowing these people to join their families to celebrate this religious festival.

The decree, drawn up under articles 43 and 47 of the Constitution, lists the prisoners benefiting from this total remission of custodial sentences. Here are some examples of people pardoned and the reasons for their convictions:

  • Ma As : Born in 1994, sentenced to two years, including three months in prison, for gang theft on public roads. His release is scheduled for June 26, 2024.
  • Ali : Born in 2002, sentenced to two years, including three months in prison, for gang theft on public roads. His release is scheduled for June 27, 2024.
