GARD The Region and twelve associations are committed to a more inclusive and united Occitanie

This Friday, June 14 at the Hôtel de Région in Montpellier, the Occitanie region brought together some of the winning associations of its call for projects aimed at supporting associations working in the areas of gender equality, consideration and the inclusion of people with disabilities or the fight against sexist and sexual violence, against racism, anti-Semitism and all other forms of discrimination.

Around Marie Piqué, vice-president of the Region representing President Carole Delga, more than twenty associations working particularly in the east of the territory were able to present their actions which will contribute to making Occitanie a territory more inclusive and more united.

As part of its roadmap to make Occitanie a more united and more inclusive territory, the Region launched in 2023 a new call for projects aimed at supporting associations working in the areas of gender equality, the consideration and inclusion of people with disabilities or the fight against gender-based and sexual violence, against racism, anti-Semitism and all other forms of discrimination. For its first year of implementation in 2024, the Region has selected 136 projects which contribute to creating change in society and for which it has mobilized more than €740,000. In Gard, twelve associations were selected:

In Occitania, a land of welcome, sharing and solidarity, we know that collective action is the only path towards a more peaceful, fairer and more egalitarian society, where everyone can find their place. Reaching out rather than pointing fingers is the project we are collectively defending today », underlined the president of the Region Carole Delga on the sidelines of this meeting.

Through these 136 winners, numerous actions will be carried out in all departments, whether to improve the daily lives of people with disabilities, to move towards real equality between women and men, or to raise awareness and take action against racism, anti-Semitism or LGBT-phobias », concluded Marie Piqué, vice-president of the Region in charge of Solidarity, public services and community life.
