Hébert won the 75-lap final of the first round of the season of the Canadian big block series, Friday evening at Autodrome Granby, when he got the better of Alex Therrien and Mathieu Desjardins. For the Saint-Damase driver, this is a third victory in four races since the start of the season at the Autodrome.

Starting second behind Jérémy Roy, Hébert took just a few laps before taking the lead. He then resisted three yellow flags, including one with less than 10 laps remaining, before signing another success.

“With a very slippery track, the starting position was very important this evening,” he explained. After finding myself first, I played as cautiously as possible. We still had a good car, I took advantage of it.”

Second on the podium, Therrien had no reason to be embarrassed. Especially since he was driving a small block.

“In the end, I think I was even faster than David,” he said. This result this evening was unexpected.”

Desjardins spoke of a car that was difficult to drive.

“I respected the limits of the car and third, in the circumstances, is satisfactory,” he stressed. We have done our homework and we will now be ready for Drummondville (where the Canadian series will end on Saturday).”

There were 15 large blocks out of a possible 31 on Friday. Only Hébert and Desjardins had one inside the top 5, which was completed by William Racine and Christopher Cordeau.

More details to come.
