Since October 24, 2024, he was in intensive care at the Angers hospital center (Maine-et-Loire) where he was airlifted.
André Graux, 87, succumbed to his injuries mid-week. That day, the Laval cyclist who was riding on Avenue Chanzy in Laval (Mayenne) was the victim of an accident with a car driven by a young woman of 32 years old. The collision occurred at the intersection with Boulevard de l'Industrie. Suffering from several fractures including head trauma, the octogenarian had to be transported by HéliSmur49, the Maine-et-Loire Smur helicopter.
The preliminary investigation entrusted by the prosecution to the Laval police station is now open for “involuntary homicide”. Contacted, Anne-Lyse Jarthon, the public prosecutor replied that “the investigations carried out to date aim to determine the conditions in which this accident occurred”.
Call for witnesses
Hearings were conducted and a call for witnesses was launched on Tuesday, November 5 to invite “any person who was at the scene of the accident on Thursday October 24, around 4:20 p.m.” to call the police station on 02 43 67 81 81, asking for the accident brigade.
Investigators are seeking in particular to find the driver of a dark-colored BMW who allegedly crossed the path of the cyclist just before the accident. Workers present at the crossroads, on the cycle path construction site, told West France to have “heard an impressive noise during the accident”.
