The first semi-final of the Moselle Open between Cameron Norrie and Corentin Moutet delivered its verdict with a qualification for the British.
The first semi-final of the Moselle Open 2024 was played this Friday afternoon. On the court, two men with very different backgrounds in the competition. Cameron Norrie, on the courts since the first round of competition, fought three battles in three sets to get there. For his part, Corentin Moutet benefited from the lightest run of all the semi-finalists with a victory by abandonment against Nagal and a skipped quarter-final round due to Rublev's withdrawal. The Frenchman, however, left some energy on the court during his round of 16 against Jan-Lenard Struff.
During today's match the difference in rest between the two men was not really felt. The British, former world number 8, put his best foot forward in the first set to win 6-2. Broken at the start of the second set, Corentin Moutet however knew how to rebel to come back to the score and break in turn before being rejoined and beginning a real standoff. At the end of the exchanges it was Cameron Norrie who was the most realistic and who knew how to keep a cool head to win: 6-2 / 7-6.
