When moving through the Cantal, on October 30, 2021, the former Prime Minister, Jean Castexhad announced, the return of the night train between Aurillac and Paris.

A reality since December 10, 2023.

Until the end of 2024, the effective operation consists of a daily return trip during the holiday periods in zone A and C, as well as a journey on Friday and Sunday evenings in each direction outside the holiday periods.

In a letter addressed to the parliamentarians of Cantal, Clement BeauneMinister of Transport, has committed to making this connection daily from December 2024.

That day (December 10, 2023), a gathering of railway workers from the CGT du Cantal, representatives of the French Communist Party, members of the defense committee and users for the defense of the night train and the Aurillac/ line Brive took place.

And to explain at the time: “We are satisfied to be gathered on this happy day to participate in this re-circulation for which we have fought with perseverance for 7 years. But we fear that people will be lost if the rotation is not daily from the start, we should have started strong, with a simplicity of the commercial offer,” explained the Pau representative of the Fer Cantal committee.

But it seems that the promise has not been kept according to the CGT Cheminots du Cantal union which announces that “this connection will not be daily in 2025 and will retain its current regime”.

Contacted for confirmation, the Ministry in charge of transport has not responded to our request, for the moment.
