The director and an assistant childcare worker at a daycare center in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines) were indicted on Thursday, November 7, suspected of physical and psychological abuse against at least eight children over a period of three years, according to information from franceinfo from a source close to the case, confirmed by the Versailles public prosecutor's office. A judicial investigation is open. The two employees were taken into custody on Wednesday.
The childcare worker's assistant is indicted for “violence without incapacity against a minor aged 15 by an ascendant or a person having authority over the victim”. For her part, the director is indicted for “failure to report ill-treatment inflicted on a 15-year-old minor” and “voluntary failure to prevent a crime or misdemeanor against the integrity of a 15-year-old minor” .
According to the first elements of the investigation, from a source close to the case, it was following the testimony of an intern who worked in this crèche last spring that the investigation began last July. The acts alleged against the childcare worker began in October 2021 and lasted until June 11, 2024. The director of the crèche is suspected of having been aware of the actions of the childcare assistant from October 2023, but for having said nothing, allowing the childcare worker to continue her actions. The investigation is entrusted to the judicial police.
