A road accident occurred this Thursday 13 June, on the RN5 in the center of the town of Montrond, very close to Champagnole. Only one car was involved, a Citroën C3 occupied by an elderly couple living in Poligny, whose driver lost control and which hit the wall of the cheese factory located on the edge of the main road.

A gendarme and a doctor passing through for first aid

A gendarme in transit and a doctor who also passed by were able to provide first aid to the victims while waiting for the firefighters to arrive. The man, aged 74, was taken to Lons hospital, while his wife, aged 83 and more seriously injured, was sent to Besançon hospital.

Sixteen firefighters responded to the scene of the accident.

The Champagnole gendarmes were responsible for setting up a diversion during the rescue operations and the removal of the vehicle through the Vergoby garage.
