This Thursday, June 13, 2024, the firefighters were called to intervene on the site of Safran Landing Systemsin Molsheim (Bas-Rhin).

A Seveso classified site, that is to say considered at risk, which had already been the victim of a fire in the summer of 2022, which did not cause any injuries.

Release of smoke at Safran: firefighters speak of a “chemical reaction”

In a press release, the firefighters indicate that they intervened “in the oil processing unit of the company Safran Landing Systems” and noted on their arrival “a smoke release intermittently following a chemical reaction at the level of a gutter.

“In the end, it was a acid which could be contained and collected by a specialized company“, explain the emergency services.

Buildings confined during operations

During the operations, “the nearby building was evacuated (46 people) while the other buildings on the site were confined (700 people)”, recall the firefighters.
