The fire broke out around 7pm for reasons that are still unknown in the Gaston Trollé hardware and tool company located in the Landacres business park. A huge plume of black smoke was visible for miles around. Dozens of firefighters and impressive firefighting equipment were deployed.

For the Commander of rescue operations, Nicolas Leclet, there was a risk of explosion due to the presence of gas cylinders used for welding:

14 emergency engines, around forty firefighters from Boulogne, Desvres, Hucqueliers and even Lumbres with a high-powered van.

Thierry Bentz, mayor of Hesdin The abbot attended the deployment of firefighters:

Overwhelmed by smoke, the employees of La Charlotte located nearby hastily evacuated their building which will only resume its ice cream manufacturing activity after a major cleaning.

The cause of the fire was unknown last night.

Captain Ludovic Caulier, deputy commander of the Calais-Boulogne gendarmerie company:

Firefighters fought all night. The high-powered van capable of projecting 8,000 liters of water per minute helped contain the power of the fire.

The Commander of relief operations, Nicolas Leclet:

The Landacres business park is certified to ISO 14001 standards and has specific means to control fires.

Jean-Philippe Vennin, director of the Boulonnais urban community:
