A Belgian couple traveled to Türkiye to recover some of their gold stored in a local bank. But, surprise, when we arrived on site, the safe was empty, indicate our colleagues from HLN. The incident took place in the town of Bolvadin, Turkey, Afyonkarahisar province. RO and UO, who had been depositing their gold here for more than ten years without any problem, discovered with amazement, during their visit on October 11, that the bars had disappeared.
According to them, the chest contained around 8 kilos of gold, worth 640,000 euros. The police were immediately alerted, and an investigation began. Authorities found fingerprints on the trunk, including those of family relatives.
A few days later, on October 24, another customer reported the theft of jewelry worth 380,000 euros from the same agency. These elements quickly directed investigators to a former employee of the bank, who had retired in August 2024. Before leaving, this employee would have called a locksmith, claiming to no longer be able to open “his” safe, which could not was actually not his.
To this day, Turkish police are still looking for him.
