Faced with the success of the first edition in November 2023 with more than 750 visitors, the Lozère Chamber of Commerce and Industry is organizing, in its premises, the second Orientation Night on Thursday November 21, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The opportunity for young people to “find [leur] stress-free way.
Orientation Night returns for its second edition in Mende, on Thursday November 21, 2024. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Lozère, this will be an opportunity for middle school students , high school students, students and their parents, to meet guidance professionals and professionals from different sectors to answer their questions and help them find their way.
The first edition was a real success, as the president of the CCI Thierry Julier testified, and the goal is now to perpetuate this event.
Les 1 500m2 of CCI premises, including personal offices, will be transformed and used for the event in a space for information, presentation of professions and career guidance for young people in the department. Around 130 professionals will be present.
Many goals
The objectives of Orientation Night are numerous. First of all, the CCI wishes to promote rapprochement between young people and businesses by introducing them to career paths and professions through meetings with business leaders, in the hope of sparking vocations among them.
Then, Orientation Night offers young people the opportunity to project themselves into their professional future in a positive way, to define a project, to benefit from advice from guidance professionals, or even to discover the entrepreneurship.
In the background“it’s about responding to an obsession: how to prepare for your future?explained Thierry Julier. It’s a question we’ve all gone through. We want to bring together as many stakeholders as possible to help visitors answer this question and continue to think about it at home.”
Various resources in one place
Different spaces will be made available to students and their companions: two conference spaces which seventy to a hundred people can attend at the same time, a speed dating space for professions with more than one hundred professions represented in numerous sectors of the activity, a coaching space, an “orient'express” space with individual interviews, and finally an interactive space made up of five fun workshops to get to know yourself better and project yourself.
This year, the number of conferences has been doubled (12 conferences in total), to allow more themes to be addressed: professions in the care and social support sector, professions of the future, inspiring testimonies of creativity and of innovation…
Parents too
But also conferences addressed to parents on how to support your child calmly in their professional choices, or to learn how to demystify the guidance process, such as Parcoursup or the choice of specialties in high school.
In addition, parents can also be coached by professionals. Indeed, the objective of Orientation Night is also to loosen communication between parents and their children when they are at home. These conferences will be provided by different partners, such as the JobIRL association or the Local Mission.
No more conventions
“Find your way, without stress“, such is the credo of Orientation Night. Thus, this moment dedicated to orientation is intended to be less conventional than traditional orientation fairs, with the aim of desecrating questions surrounding orientation and simplifying exchanges. The CCI wants the event to be friendly and fun, to appeal to as many young people as possible.
This is why the CCI talks about coaches rather than guidance counselors. This is why young people will be able to use virtual reality glasses to project themselves into a professional environment. This is why the meetings will take place in large rooms promoting relaxation and where all areas will be mixed. This is why a food truck and a DJ will also be present on site.
