The waltz of rotations. In 40 minutes this Wednesday, November 6 and under an intense blue sky, the helicopter of a specialized company dismantled lines and wooden poles. The project, which began in February 2024, is soon coming to an end.

To secure its lines subject to climatic hazards, ENEDIS regularly buries part of its installations. Here, 3.5 km of overhead lines have disappeared, as have 50 poles. To replace them, it was necessary to bury 4.5 km of underground cables.

“All it took was a violent wind or a storm like we experienced with Kirk for trees to fall on our lines, and when that fell, several thousand customers were cut off” explains Kahlid Najibe, territorial director Enedis Jura, speaking to our journalist Marine Candel. Strong winds, sticky snow, difficult to access area… at all seasons, in this hilly landscape of the vineyard, the network could suffer damage. Enedis paid 650,000 euros for this project.

By burying part of its electricity network, the municipalities in the sector are being offered a great gift. The Château-Chalon vineyard, on the territory of the communes of Château-Chalon, Domblans, Menétru-le-Vignoble, Nevy-sur-Seille and Voiteur, has been classified since 2006. Tourists come to admire the curves and colors of the vines. The wine of Château-Chalon is renowned, with the Savagnin grape variety, it produces the emblematic and prestigious yellow wine produced under the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) Château-Chalon.

“Already in 2010, we fought to remove a transformer which was a real problem in the village, and the line which went down into the vineyards” remembers Christian Vuillaume, mayor of the commune of Château-Chalon.

The Enedis site is like “a gift falling from the sky” rejoices the elected official.

It provides security for the communities concerned and the transport of electricity, and it's always pleasant to live in an environment where people tell you: how beautiful your place is!

“Here when we open our window, it’s a permanent painting” he said. A painting which will now be colored solely by plants without a power line on the horizon.

Enedis plans to bury other lines and poles in the department which weaken the network in bad weather. A vast project, the Jura has nearly 4,000 km of power lines.
