The bakery “the Norman mascot” is well known in L'Aigle (Orne). It is said to have opened for the first time in the 1940s. Located at the start of rue du Général de Gaulle, it is one of the bakeries in the city center. It was taken over in 2012 by Sébastien Derouet and his wife Swandie.

The bakery now employs 12 people including apprentices.

After the bakery and the lab, it's the turn of the shop

A company that invests. In 2019 the bakery and the “lab” were completely renovated. This year, the store is being renovated. It was time. It probably dated from the 1980s. The work was also necessary so that the bakery could accommodate the people with reduced mobility. The regulations came through.

During the eight weeks of construction, there was no question of closing the bakery. The solution, rent a market truck, and set up the stall in the parking lot in front of the bakery. Until mid-November, Swandie Derouet and the sellers brave the wind and the cold, to be able to continue selling bread and pastries. You are then even more assured that everything is fresh.

Stay at customer service

Every day, except Monday, sales are by the truck. From 6:15 a.m. until 8 p.m.! The rental of the truck represents €5,000. Plus the cost of insurance. A considerable investment for the duration of the work. Despite these efforts, sales declined somewhat. But for Sébastien and Swandie Derouet, it was impossible to “lose customers” for eight weeks.

The renovated store should reopen no later than Tuesday, November 12, but it is not impossible that it could be as early as Sunday, November 10. Be among the first to see the new store.
