On paper, the final of the main Haute-Marne cup, contested on Sunday June 9, in Chaumont, looked attractive since it pitted the first two of Departmental 1 against each other. With each a victory in the championship, this final constituted a great which turned to the advantage of Bologna, victorious (3-1).

The start of the match was committed, but also choppy because of the mistakes made by each team. Both finalists struggled to create chances. We had to wait until the 14th minute to see a shot from Bolognese Benjamin Breton well captured by northern Haut-Marne goalkeeper Romain Cail.

Diane d’Eurville had a lot of difficulty setting up the game and had to wait until the 25th minute to bring danger to Bologna’s goal. Following a corner, Aymerik Thevenot’s recovery did not worry Hugo Royer.

Well in place defensively, Bologna managed to open the scoring in the 30th minute. Benjamin Breton’s cross turned into a shot and deceived Romain Cail, far from being exempt from any blame on this goal conceded (1-0). This opening score freed Christophe Fauconnier’s troops who were pressing on the accelerator to make the break.

The Bolognese were going to be rewarded for their efforts in the 40th minute. Thomas Leseur threw Imad Choukry perfectly who played against the Eurville defense to adjust Romain Cail (2-0).

Just before the break, Nord Haut-Marne striker Cédric Vogel, well served by Maxime Gillet, had a big opportunity to reduce the score, but his shot missed Hugo Royer’s goal (45′).

At the break, Bologna took the lead with a two-goal lead. Eurville, who lacked technical accuracy, would have to redouble his efforts in this second act.

Bologna were uncompromising in defense and did not want to give up their final.

Coming to the forefront on a corner, Eurville central defender Charly Vaudin gave his colors hope by heading the ball into Hugo Royer’s goal (2-1, 58′).

Benjamin Breton puts an end to Eurville’s hopes

With this reduction in the score, Eurville returned to the match. Not for long because, less than ten minutes later, the Bolognese would definitively seal the score through Benjamin Breton, author of a splendid volley (3-1, 66′). Bologna definitely held on to their victory, like Hugo Royer who was decisive against Aymerik Thevenot (85′).

At the final whistle, the Bolognese exploded with joy and did not fail to celebrate their victory with their many supporters.
