A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening on the RER A platforms. A man saw both his legs severed by a passing train. Transported in a coma to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital (13th century), with a life-threatening prognosis, the victim finally died during his transport to the establishment, around 1 a.m.
According to a police source, around 10:30 p.m., the man was “defecating” at the head of the train, near the edge of the RER A platform, when he was unbalanced and fell onto the rails. The source of its imbalance remains unknown for the moment. But the man was then hit by a passing RER, severing both of his legs.
RER A traffic was subsequently interrupted in both directions between Vincennes and Auber stations until 1:10 a.m. The police were able to confirm the facts they had established by looking at the RATP's video surveillance cameras, which did not wish to communicate about this serious rail traffic accident.
This incident comes a few weeks after the death of a metro user, who fell between two cars at Stalingrad station and died in atrocious conditions. Unable to get back up after his fall, the victim “was caught by the oar when he resumed the race”, according to our information.
